Russian Internet Governance Forum

The ninth edition of the Russian Internet Governance Forum will take place on April, 6 in the Northern capital of Russia, Saint Petersburg.
Cybersecurity will be the main topic of the forum. Participants will discuss how to respond to a variety of cyber threats: from international cybercrime to fake news.
The forum will feature four following sessions:
- Fake news: how the false agenda is formed. Among the speakers of the session will be the following prominent industry figures: Anton Anisimov of the International News Agency Russia Today, Roberto Gaetano of Public Internet Registry and Vladimir Todorov of Lenta.ru. Among the participants of the session will be representatives of leading media, researchers of information culture as well as Russian and foreign specialists that develop information policy.
- Cybersecurity: together or apart. It will bring together such speakers as Wolfgang Kleinwaechter of University of Aarhus, Li Yan of CUCIR and Chris Buckridge of RIPE NCC to discuss how to find balance between the desire of states to obtain digital sovereignty and create their own cyber forces and the necessity to coordinate efforts from all over the world to fight electronic terrorism and international cybercrime.
- In case of emergency. The session will bring together representatives of the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) from Russia, Asia and Europe to discuss the prospects of CERT in the world and new challenges they bring.
- On the eve of Skynet. The session is dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and how it can be used to fight threats or detect external attacks. Representatives of the largest international companies which use AI will discuss the present and the future of AI, as well as whether we should fear the rise of the machines.
The forum will feature the award ceremony of the IP&IT Law competition. Held annually, the competition features the projects in the field of Internet law and IT prepared by students, post-graduate and young researchers from different regions of Russia and other countries.
The event is organized by the coordination center for TLD.RU with the support of the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications. Among the partners of the event are ICANN, ISOC, RIPE NCC and APTLD.
