CapMan invests in Siberian ISP

Private equity fund CapMan Russia announced last week that it has made its first investment ever in a telecom asset. The CapMan fund bought a 20% stake in Siberian Networks, one of the leading ISPs in Western Siberia, and the fund plans to raise its share to a blocking stake in the coming months.

Rostelecom connects Siberian cities to e-government

National telecom operator Rostelecom and Irkutsk city authorities signed an agreement last week for the deployment of Rostelecom’s e-government solutions in the city, TASS-Telecom reported citing company sources. Similar agreements have been signed earlier with municipal authorities in Siberian cities of Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk and Omsk.

Sibirtelecom promotes GPON in Novosibirsk

A $10-million Phase 1 silicon chip production site has been announced for Novosibirsk’s science area of Akademgorodok, Newsib.ru reports. The future market for the new production will reportedly be power electronics, communications and optoelectronics makers in Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Omsk and other Siberian cities.
