MTS to buy Ufanet for $170-$180 million

MTS, a leading Russian mobile operator, intends to purchase Bashkortostan’s telecom operator Ufanet, Russian business daily Kommersant reports. In the fall of 2010 Megafon wanted to buy Ufanet but in the last moment changed decision because of the price of $170-$180 million.

Bashkortostan announces $52 million innovation program till 2015

Authorities in the Republic of Bashkortostan have approved a $52 million long-term innovation program to run till 2015, regional officials report. Of the total funding, $17 million is reportedly to be allocated from budgets, and $35 million is to be raised from non-budgetary sources.

60.46% shares in BETO auctioned at min. $13.7 million

Authorities in the Republic of Bashkortostan have announced an open auction to sell 60.46% shares in Ufa-based telecommunications systems manufacturer BETO at starting price of $13.7 million. The participants bids are accepted before April 4, and the auction is scheduled to be held on April 8, 2011.

MTS to further develop 3G in Bashkortostan

The Bashkir subsidiary of MTS, a leading Russian mobile operator, has agreed with the Bashkir government to invest over 2 billion rubles ($67 million) in developing its network in Bashkortostan between now and the end of 2012.
