Rostelecom to build a $110 million line between Russia and Kaliningrad

National telecom operator Rostelecom is considering building a $110 million submarine communication line between St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad region, reports ComNews.ru, a site specializing in the Russian telecom and IT markets. The company might carry out the project with partner investors or on its own, ComNews.ru says.

PayPal in talks with mobile operators to enter the Russian market

PayPal, the leading international online payment company, has according to unnamed sources taken “the strategic decision” to enter the Russian market, reported RBC Daily. The business daily also reported—and PayPal confirmed to EWDN—that PayPal is holding discussions with MTS, VimpelCom and MegaFon, Russia’s leading mobile operators.

MTS and MasterCard launch new credit card

TRC TVT, the largest cable TV operator in Tatarstan, is currently 100% owned by TAIF group. It provides services in 15 municipalities and covers over 650,000 households.

Rostelecom to invest in Karelia and Tomsk regions in 2011

Rostelecom, Russia’s national telecommunications operator, intends to invest $15.3 million in the development of telecommunications networks in Tomsk region in 2011, up 34.4% from 2010, news agency RIA Novosti reports.
