Offline e-commerce terminals to be deployed in Russian regions

The Agency for Advanced Information Technologies (APIT), a Russian group of IT consulting and hardware retail companies, has announced its intention to deploy touch screen terminals throughout the country allowing local consumers without an Internet connection to order goods and services from selected Russian e-commerce sites.

Begun and Google to further integrate advertising

Google AdWords and Begun, a leading Russian ad network acquired by Google in 2008, have announced further technological integration of their advertising capabilities.

Yandex to track user behavior

Yandex, Russia’s leading search engine, has launched Webvisor, a service that works with Yandex.Metrica to track and visualize the actions of site visitors. Webvizor is only for sites using Yandex Market, a marketplace for merchants affiliated with Yandex, or Yandex Direct, the contextual ad service of Yandex.

Qiwi discontinues e-currency replenishment service

Qiwi’s offline and online payment systems can no longer be used to replenish the accounts of a dozen Russian electronic currencies, as of March 15. The affected e-currencies include Yandex.Dengi – one of the two leading Russian e-currencies; MoneyMail – the e-currency of Mail.ru, a leading web portal; and a range of minor e-currencies.

Elle.ru launches online shop

The Russian edition of Elle magazine has launched a full-fledged online store. Instead of using affiliated stores, Elle.ru allows users to stay on the site to complete their orders and make payment. A call center provides online shoppers with assistance.
