Rostelecom connects Siberian cities to e-government

National telecom operator Rostelecom and Irkutsk city authorities signed an agreement last week for the deployment of Rostelecom’s e-government solutions in the city, TASS-Telecom reported citing company sources. Similar agreements have been signed earlier with municipal authorities in Siberian cities of Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk and Omsk.

Nizhny Novgorod to offer free Wi-Fi on the streets

Authorities in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia’s fourth largest city, have announced plans to launch wireless Internet Wi-Fi free for users on the central streets of the city, the Business Monitoring Agency reports citing Head of city administration Oleg Kondrashov.

Rostov region to invest $31 million in innovation by 2015

Authorities in the Rostov region have announced plans to allocate $31 million to finance an innovation development program in 2012-2015, regional officials report. The funds are reportedly to be assigned from the regional budget. According to plans, the program will define mechanisms to attract investors to the innovation sector and provide for a favorable investment climate in the Rostov region.  

Rusnano and Intel hold innovation entrepreneurship training school in Izhevsk

Russia’s state-own nanotechnology corporation Rusnano and US technology company Intel have opened a training school “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in High Technologies Sector” in Izhevsk, Republic of Udmurtia, Rusnano reports. The three-day training goal is to teach innovation entrepreneurship, project management and key aspects of creating scientific goods and services in demand to local specialists.

Vologda region to set up technopark in Cherepovets

Authorities in Vologda region intend to set up a technopark for small businesses carrying out innovation projects in the city of Cherepovets, news agency RIA Novosti reports.

Kaluga region to get $50 million federal funding for Obninsk technopark

Authorities in Kaluga region have started construction of an IT and biotechnologies technopark in the city of Obninsk, regional Governor Anataoly Artamonov told journalists. Under plans, by 2015 Kaluga region is to get $50 million from the federal budget on the technopark construction.

Digital TV launched in Sakhalin region in test mode

Digital TV broadcasting has been launched in Sakhalin region in testing mode, regional officials report. The digital TV stations have been installed in 12 out of 19 municipal districts in the region. In the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and some other municipalities test broadcasting is delayed due to technical difficulties in equipment installation.

Rostelecom to set up innovation center in Belgorod

Russia’s national telecommunications operator Rostelecom and authorities in Belgorod region have signed an agreement to set up a regional innovation center, the company reports. The regional innovation center Aurora-Park is reportedly to be located in the South-Western district of Belgorod.
