STC to invest $21 m in Stavropol region network in 2011

South Telecommunications Company (STC) has announced plans to invest $21.2 million in network development in Stavropol region in 2011, up 26.5% on 2010.

Under plans, the funds are to be invested into reconstruction of aerial communications lines, cable line facilities, telephony services expansion and modernization of multi-service network.

The company’s priority project for 2011 is reportedly development of the broadband Internet access using ETTH technology. Under the project, the company is to launch over 33,000 ports.

STC is a subsidiary of Rostelecom, Russia’s national telecommunications operator.
