MTS, a leading Russian mobile operator and retailer, and NEC Neva Communications Systems, a subsidiary of Japanese NEC Corporation, launched a cloud business applications store in Belarus earlier this month through the local subsidiary of MTS.
The SaaS business applications are available to MTS subscribers via the MTS Belorussian portal without installing any additional software. The offer includes enterprise accounting software 1C-Enterprise, mobile advertising service Publiclick, web-conference and video-conference service providers Spontania and VideoBridge.
The cloud based apps are designed to help businesses reduce IT infrastructure expenses by cutting down on installation, modernization and technical support costs for software.
The implementation of the SaaS project in Belarus is the first step in MTS plans to offer a wide range of cloud based solutions for businesses in Russia and other CIS countries. Other major Russian mobile operators VimpelCom, RosTelecom and MegaFon are also working on offering cloud based business services.
