Sber’s excellence in certain technology segments, including artificial intelligence, was highlighted several times earlier this month through a variety of international and domestic awards.
In the yearly ranking “World’s Best Trade Finance Providers” of international magazine Global Finance, the Russian financial and digital giant appeared as number one in the category “Best Use of Artificial Intelligence in Trade Finance.”
What earned the jury’s recognition is an online recommendations on secure payments, which Sber describes as follows: “When drawing up a payment order, artificial intelligence analyzes data about the client, payment and supplier in real time. Based on the results of this analysis, AI makes recommendations on the use of a letter of credit in settlements to mitigate transaction risks. The whole process takes a split second, and the client can immediately open a letter of credit in the SberBusiness online banking.”
Evgeny Kravchenko, who heads trade finance at Sber, commented: “Sber leverages a unique AI expertise – having accumulated a colossal amount of data, we use the best algorithms and an IT platform. All this empowers us to create high-tech effective solutions, with maximized customization to meet the needs of clients who require trade finance products. We are pleased to see that these solutions are gaining worldwide recognition.”
Sber won two other international AI awards:
- The first place in the Vehicle Motion Prediction category of the international Shifts Challenge for machine learning professionals.
- The first place in the international NetHack Challenge — one of the most difficult computer games — showing the best results when training AI to beat one of the world’s hardest games using neural networks
The latter success involved Sber’s brand-new Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (AIRI). Sber and AIRI professionals “managed to build a hierarchy of skills that AI must have in order to play NetHack, using both classical approaches to machine learning and modern methods based on reinforcement learning.”
Domestic awards in edtech and fintech
On the domestic scene, Sber was praised for its technologies in the field of education:
- Sber’s program “developing customers’ privacy-culture amid the Covd-19 pandemic” was named “Program of the Year” in the social program category of the contest “Efficient Education”
- Sber’s training program on acquiring solutions was named “Best Online Course Outside a Platform” at the EdCrunch Awards 2021.
Finally, solutions developed by Sber or its affiliated companies received eight Digital Leaders Awards. These solutions include ‘Card Activation Before Issuance,’ ‘Virtual Personal Finance Assistant,’ ‘Financial Analysis in the SberBank Online Mobile Application,’ ‘Remote Control of Tariff Packages,’ ‘Pulse HR Platform,’ ‘Business Missions Online at Bankofpartners.com,’ ‘Business Purchases in Instalments.’
