iHerb to launch IT support unit in Russia

iHerb, one of the most successful international e-commerce companies in Russia, aims to take advantage of this country’s large tech talent pool through the creation of a local IT division.

Under plans, the first local IT team will start activities in the course of this quarter. It will include programmers, mobile developers, software testers, web designers and data processing specialists. IHerb intends to hire some 40 Russian IT specialists by the end of this year.

This division will will not only support iHerb’s online sales processes in Russia: it will also serve the company’s global IT needs.

“For iHerb, it is utmost important that the purchase process on the marketplace is convenient and safe for the user. The company is constantly working to improve its services, striving to meet customer needs. Therefore, the involvement of Russian programmers, known all over the world for the high quality of their work, is a logical step. For our part, we will strive to provide Russian IT specialists with the best conditions for their professional development,” the Russian media quoted iHerb country manager Ilya Mikin as saying.

This move comes as part of a plan to invest $100 million in Russia, as announced by iHerb in October last year.
