Already moving into the commercial sector with a considerable growth potential, plastic-based electronics are already used in several ways. For example, they allow to create flexible solar displays that can be used as wallpaper as well as in sensors on smart clothing, aiming to monitor health markers.
A Siberian company called PlusMinus Electronics Lab has developed a smart t-shirt made of tight-fitting spandex. The t-shirt features sensors on a plastic base layer to measure heart rate, breathing rate, body temperature, ECG parameters, counting movements during exercise, and other parameters.
These sensors transmit data to a special app for smart phones which was developed using an electronic platform for various measurements. Initially intended for athletes, these smart t-shirts could also be used in the future to monitor patients in a medical context.
Online business magazine Invest Foresight met company founder, Svyatoslav Vensky. This 27-year-old process engineer explained how such electronics are made and what projects his company is working on.
