Startup Village
Date:
May 31, 2018 - June 1, 2018
Location: Moscow
On May 31 – June 1, Skolkovo, the international tech hub under completion on the outskirts of Moscow, will play host to the sixth edition of Startup Village. Presented as the largest startup conference in Russia and neighboring countries, the event will bring together some 20,000 participants from 80 countries.
The conference will be a meeting point for startup founders, representatives of the world’s leading accelerators, as well as unicorns, investors, major technology corporations and government officials.
The business program features over 150 interactive sessions and master classes on developing new markets, transforming business models and integrating breakthrough technology into business.
Startup Village participants will be able to schedule their meetings with experts ahead of time through a special service, SUV Matchmaking.
The event will feature the best pre-selected startups in two categories, Early Stage Projects and Companies (up-and-coming technological entrepreneurs). The teams will compete in four areas: IT, biomedicine, energy efficiency and saving, and industrial technology. The winner will be awarded 2 million rubles (roughly $32,300 at the current exchange rate) to develop their project.
The Companies contest is for experienced market players with at least 1 million rubles ($16,200 at the current exchange rate) in annual revenue. The jury will name the most promising projects in 19 areas, including digital technology in business, manufacturing, finance, and media, digital healthcare, and energy-efficient transport. The main prize is 5 million rubles (roughly $81,000).
The conference will also feature Startup Bazaar, an exhibition for local young teams to present promising solutions, from prototypes to finished products. Some 200 startups are expected to exhibit this year.
In 2017, Startup Village gathered over 20,000 people from 80 countries. The event brought together 4,500 startups, 1,000 investors, 490 journalists and 350 semifinalists. A total of over 1,000 applications were submitted for the contests.
