Russian-founded AI startup secured $840,000 to “redesign home security”

Cherry Labs, a Russian-founded startup an AI-powered solution of which “provides your family with the safest, smartest and most-private home possible,” secured $840,000 from Gagarin Capital, a US-based venture fund with Russian roots, and two Russian funds — Impulse VC and Altair Capital. The round also involved such individual investors as Alexander Agapitov, Yuri Gursky, Igor Matsanyuk, Julia Neznanova, Aigerim Shorman and Greg Silverman.

The deal was closed this past spring, but was reported by local online publication Firrma.ru this past Friday based on exchanges with Nick Davidov, managing partner at Gagarin Capital and Cherry Labs’ co-founder.

Named after Davidov’s dog, Cherry Labs brings together AI, computer vision and advanced biometrics to “redefine home security.” Its smart sensors create a virtual floor plan of your house, giving you a snapshot of your entire home in just one glance, says the company.

You can even see your family members, pets, objects are located without wasting time scanning through empty rooms.

For those worried about their privacy, the startup promises that video recordings are made only when necessary, and data is encrypted with AI and stored at your home only.

To keep you updated about your home, Cherry Labs sends you real-time “short messages with a pinch of emotion.”

This past summer, the company secured an undisclosed amount of investment from Russian-American venture fund GVA Capital.

Founded in 2016, the US-based startup employs over 20 engineers, AI scientists and product designers in Cupertino, Berlin, Moscow and Shenzhen.
