The French video game startup Blacknut intends to expand to Russia by the end of this year, as reported last week by Les Echos based on exchanges with Blacknut’s CEO Olivier Avaro.
Blacknut offers instant access to games with no installation or dedicated hardware required. Games can be played virtually anywhere, at home or outside.
The company is planning to make available two hundred on-demand online games in June in the home country.
“Our platform will be fully functional in France by the end of the year. Then, we’ll quickly expand to other European countries, as well as to the USA and Russia,” he said in exchanges with the French business daily.
Unlimited access to the service will be offered on a subscription basis for €20 per month. Blacknut expects to attract as many as 500,000 subscribers within five years.
“It seems reasonable, since the European market of cloud gaming is estimated at €440 million,” comments Avaro.
According to Avaro, Blacknut has an ambition to become “the Netflix for video games.”
The company has just raised €1.6 million from Go Capital, Nestadio Capital and several business angels. An additional €800,000 has come through a crowdfunding campaign on GwenneG and bank loans, reports Les Echos.
