The Skolkovo Foundation may open a representative office in the Pacific port city of Vladivostok, the head of its space cluster, Sergei Zhukov, was quoted as saying on Wednesday.
Asked about the innovation environment in the Far Eastern city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, where projects from surrounding regions were presented to a Skolkovo expert panel, Zhukov answered: “We should note that there are no Skolkovo residents from Irkutsk yet,” as reported by the Rossiya Segodnya news agency.
“So we plan to open our first representative office in the Far East. It will be located in Vladivostok,” he added. “I don’t doubt that Komsomolskians will get support from investors.”
Zhukov was leading a Skolkovo delegation to view innovations presented by 13 startups in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, a city of 250,000 in the Khabarovsk region that’s home to civil and military plane manufacturing.
“Komsomolsk-on-Amur, according to local officials, has great potential with innovations,” Zhukov was quoted as saying.
He was speaking just over a month ahead of the April 2-3 Vladivostok stage of the Russian Startup Tour.
