Gazprombank, an affiliate of the state-controlled gas giant, now has a controlling stake in WebMediaGroup, after acquiring the stake previously held by Rostelecom’s president Sergey Kalugin.
WebMediaGroup’s other shareholders are Leader Innovations and individual investors. Gazprombank and Leader Innovations had acquired minority stakes in the company in 2011.
Founded in 2007, WebMediaGroup includes Dostavka.ru, an important e-commerce site and Zoomby.ru, an aggregator of broadcast-quality video content which raised $10 million last year.
The group also includes a range of theme-based consumer portals based on urban interests (Menu.ru, InOut.ru, Weekend.ru), personal finance (Bank.ru), and photography (Photosight.ru).
