Whether you live in the US, Europe, or Russia, several major events in the coming weeks will provide you with unique opportunities to get acquainted with the latest of Russian high tech and entrepreneurship:
- The Russian Innovation Week next week in Boston and San Francisco;
- StartupMonthly events in Moscow on Sept. 22, 23 and 28;
- IDCEE 2013 in Kiev on Oct. 10 and 11;
- The CEE-SECR software conference in Moscow on Oct. 23-25.
Next week, the second annual Russian Innovation Week Conference will bring together Russian and American government representatives, business leaders, venture capitalists, and entrepreneurs in the technology sector.
The agenda will focus on issues surrounding innovation, technology and venture capital investments that are significant for Russia, including legal support of intellectual property rights, development of innovation infrastructure, and cooperation prospects in areas such as energetics, bio-technology, IT, robotics, and telecommunications, among others.
The event is presented by RUSNANO, RVC, and Skolkovo, and supported by the Russian-American Bilateral Presidential Commission’s working group on innovation.
On Sept. 22, the SmartMoney roundtable will gather investors from around the world to share their experiences and knowledge and create new collaboration opportunities. At the Startup Elevator Program on Sept. 23, early stage IT startup teams will work with Silicon Valley and local mentors to get feedback on their business model, current progress, and future plans.
On Sept. 28, the Startup Socials party will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, designers, developers, and startup entrepreneurs to network in a non-formal and fun environment.
Each year IDCEE brings together thousands of Internet entrepreneurs, VCs and angel investors, CEOs and CTOs of IT companies, IT professionals, bloggers, and digital media from far beyond Ukraine and neighboring countries.
IDCEE is arguably the leading regional event for Central and Eastern Europe’s investors and startups (see EWDN’s last year report). Worthy of note is the fact that foreign guests can visit Kiev without a visa.
The annual CEE-SECR conference has established itself as the software engineering industry’s key event in Russia and Central Europe. The conference brings together researchers from computer science, IT, and software engineering academia as well as representatives from governments and the private sector.
James Stikeleather (Executive Strategist/Chief Innovation Officer at Dell), Dave A. Thomas (founder of OTI, now the IBM OTI Labs), Ivar Jacobson (a major contributor to UML), and other notable speakers will deliver this year’s keynote lectures. The conference agenda will include research presentations, experience reports, panel discussions, workshops, and express-presentations with discussions.
