The first stage of the new High Technology Technopark is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2013 in Penza, in Russia’s Volga area, a spokesperson for the Penza regional administration told Marchmont News last week.
The technopark will reportedly cover an area of 46,000 square meters. Its resident companies will focus on information technologies, biotechnologies, and the development and production of hi-tech medical equipment.
The total cost of the new infrastructure project is estimated to be around $85 million, with about $38 million expected to come from federal coffers.
At the technopark, all the participants involved in an innovation cycle, from the designers to the production facilities, will be present, the Penza administration said. Those participants are expected to include innovative manufacturing SMEs, an R&D and testing center, representatives of research and higher education institutions, consultancies, sales and marketing firms, and other services.
The new High Technology Technopark is expected to further enhance the Penza region’s nascent innovation ecosystem. Yablochkov, an already existing technopark launched in Penza in June 2012, focuses on high technology projects in IT, precision instrument-making, material science, and both micro- and nano-electronics.
