Vladimir Elin, a Russian inventor based in Moscow, has recently patented a futuristic dual-screen smartphone which is controlled by glances and gestures – no touch is required.
This unique device is said to be able to monitor and respond to the owner’s eye pupil movements. Users may also make a call by applying a “virtual touch” without any physical contact, LifeNews.ru reported earlier this month.
The new smartphone, provisionally called SPF (SmartPhone Future), has two displays, one on each side.
The device is presumed to be completely waterproof; there is no hole or connector in it. The smartphone of the future also has a special recorder built in to detect environmental dangers, such as harmful radiation.
“I think moving the patented idea to the stage of an actual product selling in stores won’t take much time – a year or two, provided that a smartphone manufacturer is found to get interested in the design and the functionality I offer,” the inventor said.
Last year, Vladimir Elin also developed another smartphone-based device: the Do-Ra dosimeter-radiometer which monitors radiation levels and alerts users of hazardous conditions.
