On June 1-3 EMERGE, the leading international event on the Belarusian innovation scene, will hold its annual conference in an online format.
Major global companies – including Chivas, Coursera, Dropbox, Farfetch, Ikea, MegaFon, Miro, Tesla, Transferwise and VTB – will participate. On the venture side, the event will gather such funds as Acrobator Ventures, Atomico, Da Vinci Capital, Elysium Venture Capital, Flint Capital, Hoxton Capital, PX Axel Springer Porsche, Runa Capital and TA Ventures. Tim Draper, Bas Godska and other top investors will personally participate.
The local investor community is also involved actively: thus, business angel network Angels Band has formed a syndicate to invest €50,000 in one startup.
‘Pandemic, isolation, crisis — the global economy is currently experiencing a difficult period. But for investors, this is the best time to invest. This is true for traders, since the most profitable periods on stock markets are those following the deepest recessions. This is also true for venture capital investments who have a large horizon. They think in years, not in months” – Cyrill Golub, business angel and co-founder of the Angels Band network.
An online conference will be offered for startups to gain new knowledge and industry insights. Dozens of keynotes, workshops, mentoring and networking sessions will involve the founder of Miro (a ‘soonicorn’ born in Russia); experts from 500 Startups, Startup Wise Guys and TechStars; as well as representatives from Google’s Women Techmakers and developer communities.
- The Emerge Challenge, with a €10,000 prize, is open for startups with a working prototype and first customers, having raised less than €3 million. Application deadline: May 16
- The Venture Night is intended for growth-stage startups
- The Startup Alley will showcase all startups and their solutions
