Playkey, a Russian startup whose technology allows users to play the latest video games on low-performance computers, has already secured $1.3 million in its ongoing pre-ICO campaign. The news was reported last week by Russian online publication Firrma.ru.
The fund were brought by US-based fund Uncharted Capital (Playkey has managed to secure some $300,000 from several private investors as part of the campaign. This brings the total amount raised in pre-ICO to $1.3 million, as of October 18.
Playkey, which now presents itself as a blockchain-powered cloud gaming startup, will use the funding to prepare for a significant change in its concept, and switch to a P2P model.
The ICO is scheduled for start on November 1.
Meanwhile, the startup also announced that Oculus VR co-founder Dillon Seo has joined the project as an advisor.
This past summer, the startup attracted $2.7 million from the Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF, or FRII in Russian). Playkey previously raised nearly $2.5 million, including $1.5 million earlier this year from Darz, a major German data center company.
Last month, Playkey was distinguished at the SLUSH Singapore startup competition.
