1C, a leading Russian enterprise software publisher, and Ascon, Russia’s largest developer and integrator of professional AEC, MCAD, and PLM systems, have teamed up in a joint venture to develop BIM (Building Information Modeling) software products.
The new company, called Renga Software, will focus on designing solutions for architecture, engineering, construction. These solutions will be combined with those of 1C in the field of managing and accounting for construction companies.
The partners have equal shares in the JV, with Ascon contributing its intellectual property (specifically, its rights for the Renga-branded software products), and a team of developers, while 1C is expected to cover investment costs and provide resources for joint development, marketing and distribution.
“BIM in construction is not just about 3D model creation and design,” said ASCON’s general manager Maxim Bogdanov. “First of all means, it the management of data, resources, and processes during all stages of construction. We’ve always been focused on design and engineering software, while 1C has a great deal of experience in developing and implementing IT systems for management in the real estate sector. The joint effort from the two largest companies in their respective markets will allow us to make a breakthrough in information modeling.”
Even though their implementaion enjoys the support the Russian authorities, BIM technologies have proven expensive and difficult to integrate with ERP systems. Renga Software aims to eliminate these problems, says Ascon.
Among Renga’s competitors is US firm Autodesk, whose development in Russia has been hampered by the US sanctions.
