Policymakers, doctors and scientists from both the Netherlands and Russia gathered in Moscow last month under the auspices of the Russia-Netherlands bilateral health working group to exchange ideas and share expertise about e-health solutions.
“In the Netherlands, the healthcare sector is aware of the necessity to join forces for smart solutions for sustainable healthcare. This can not only save time and costs, using resources more efficiently, it also improves outcomes for patients,” Dutch Ambassador Ron van Dartel said, citing issues such as aging populations, at the opening of the roundtable.
“Because you have such a huge country, I think telehealth is extremely important for your country,” said Bas Bloem, a Dutch professor from Radboud University Nijmegen, citing the ParkinsonNet project which has saved the country 20-30 million euros in healthcare costs.
Major steps have actually been taken in Russia in the field of e-health, reports the Skolkovo Foundation.
