Googe will contest in court a ruling by Russia’s antitrust agency that it broke competition law by abusing its dominant position with its Android mobile platform, the U.S. technology company said earlier this week, according to Reuters.
In September, in a case launched by local competitor Yandex, the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) said Google had violated the law by pre-installing certain applications on mobile devices and could face penalties totaling up to 15% of its 2014 revenue in this part of the Russian market.
Yandex stated that it was “ready for the appeal” and that it would “welcome the most open trial,” the news agency reported.
The Russian search giant Yandex also said that it had also asked the EU authorities to investigate Google’s practices in relation to Android in the European Union.
