Last week Russian high school students’ projects in the sphere of mathematics, chemistry, programming, materials science and engineering were awarded with six Grand Awards and three Special Awards at the 66th International Science and Engineering Fair, Intel ISEF. The final stage of the contest took place in Pittsburgh, USA.
A program of Society for Science & the Public (SSP), Intel ISEF is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. Approximately 1,700 high school students from over 75 countries, regions, and territories are awarded the opportunity to showcase their independent research and compete for approximately $4 million in prizes.
Projects are evaluated by professors from leading world universities, representatives of international organizations and Nobel Prize winners.
The international final stage gathered together more than 1,600 students from all over the world, whose projects were selected in the course of regional competitions in more than 70 countries. Among the participants were 27 Russian students, who 20 research and development projects.
As in the previous years, the Russian teams were successful. This year they got the following awards:
Russian winners of Intel ISEF 2015 Grand Awards
- Roman Krutovskiy, Gymnasium #1514, Moscow. The Tie Theorems project, second best in Mathematics category.
- Daniil Agababyan, Moscow Chemical Lyceum #1303, Moscow. Oximes as a New Type of Ligands for Copper-Accelerated Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition project, fourth best in Chemistry category.
- Alexander Filatkin, Vladimir Bocharov, University Lyceum #1511, Moscow. Mobile Device for Radiation Measurements in Big Cities project, fourth best in Environmental Engineering category.
- Danil Fialkovskiy, School #564, Saint-Petersburg. Fast Algorithm of Commutator Length Computing in Free Group project, fourth best in Mathematics category.
- Danila Baigushev, Lyceum “Vtoraya Shkola”, Moscow. Reversible Multi-Translation of High-Level Programming Languages and a Platform for Performance-Controlled Execution in Multi-Agent Systems project, fourth best in Software category.
- Kira Kozlova, Lyceum “Vtoraya Shkola”, Moscow. The Game with Stones and “Generalized Fibonacci Sequence” project, third best in Mathematics category.

- Danila Baigushev, Lyceum “Vtoraya Shkola”, Moscow. Reversible Multi-Translation of High-Level Programming Languages and a Platform for Performance-Controlled Execution in Multi-Agent Systems project. Special Award of Oracle Academy for the outstanding project in Software category.
- Alexey Trifonov, Moscow Chemical Lyceum, Moscow. Nucleophilic Difluoromethylation of Arylidene Meldrum’s Acid Derivatives project, Chemistry category. Special Award of American Chemical Society.
