Yandex is purchasing Ros.Taxi, a software program for the management of taxis. It allows taxi businesses to take orders, coordinate and lead the work of drivers. Included within the Ros.Taxi brand is a mobile application called Taximeter, which determines the cost of a journey and provides drivers communication with dispatchers.
Together with Yandex.Taxi – an online service for taxis launched in 2011 – Ros.Taxi and Taximeter are part of a package serving the needs of passengers, drivers and taxi businesses.
Yandex.Taxi will retain full compatibility with programs from other developers, while Ros.Taxi will continue to accept orders from other suppliers.
Yandex.Taxi is developing rapidly: in the last year the number of orders via the service increased by 2.5 times, according to Yandex’s head of mobile and software products Tigran Khudaverdyan. “As a consequence, there are increasing demands for taxi software in terms of functionality and the ability to deal with cancellations. Using technology and the analytical strength of Yandex, we will be able to develop Ros.Taxi according to the needs of the market.
Ros.Taxi was developed by RosInfoTech. The program is used by more than 350 taxi dispatchers across Russia. Over a million orders pass through Ros.Taxi every month.
