VKontakte co-founder Vyacheslav Mirilashvili and his partner at MNS Consulting Nir Grinberg have opened Yesodot Private Equity, a new venture fund in Israel.
The Yesodot Private Equity fund aims to develope energy storage and infrastructure projects. Grinberg is in charge of search into potential venture capital recipients, while Mirilashvili’s task is to attract new investors. Mirilashvili has himself invested in the new fund.
Yesodot Private Equity is also planning a partnership with one of the prospective participants in a potential new ammonia reservoir in Ramat Hovav in the Negev region.
Last year Mirilashvili and his partner Lev Leviev sold their stakes in Vkontakte.ru, Russia’s leading social network, for $700 million, according to a Forbes.ru estimate. Since then they have been noticeably active on the high tech investment scene via their venture fund Vaizra Investments and Seleсtel, a Saint-Petersburg based data center company.
According to Israeli online publication Izrus, Mirilashvili, an Israeli national, has already invested in several Israeli startups, including PrimeSense (which was bough later on by Apple), while Vaizra invested in Altair Semiconductor.
