Compass-EOS, a US-Israeli next-gen router developer, has unveiled plans to open a new representative office in Russia, which will include an R&D and Commercial Sales center.
The networking company, with its photonic backplane technology icPhotonics, is coming to Russia at a time when domestic Internet traffic is expected to exhibit continued strong growth, while Russian network operators face the challenge of efficiently scaling their capacity to meet demand.
“The Russian market holds tremendous potential, with large scale operators seeking next generation technology to support the immense communications and Internet traffic growth, resulting from large social network and cloud computing players increasing their network capacity requirements. Bringing in an innovator such as Compass-EOS, with the technology to move millions more online through greener and faster networking is a great contribution to the Moscow tech scene,” said Andrey Kushnarev, Managing Director of Venture Capital at Rusnano.
Russia’s largest nanotech company became an investor in Compass-EOS during the recent round of financing announced in November 2013.
“Russia is well known for its excellence and innovation in photonics, and we expect this new R&D center to further expand our icPhotonics innovation capabilities. We look forward to partnering with local Russian companies and institutions, both for technology development and market penetration opportunities,” said Dr. Michael Mesh, Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of Compass-EOS.
