Microsoft is setting up a new separate legal entity in Russia. What started out in May 2012 as a Russian R&D center with just 70 employees will now become the Microsoft Development Center Rus, a 200-strong company with the mandate to develop and market Microsoft Dynamics AX solutions across the entire European continent.
According to Nikolai Pryanishnikov, the president of Microsoft Russia and now CEO of the new company, Microsoft Development Center Rus will target the key areas that the R&D center was originally established to cultivate.
These include the development of software to manage Microsoft Dynamics powered business processes and the creation of cross-platform solutions for real-time multimedia content broadcast on smartphones and tablets.
Microsoft Development Center Rus staff are also expected to provide worldwide technical support for Microsoft’s Dynamics NAV customers.
It is the Russians’ active involvement in the development of Microsoft business solutions that has prompted the U.S. software giant to grow its Russian R&D hub to 200 employees more than two years ahead of schedule. The Russian facility has greatly contributed to the creation of a new version of the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 corporate level enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
At the moment, the new company is preparing for the Russian rollout of a new ERP solution for small and medium-sized businesses called Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013.
