Leading Russian Internet company Mail.Ru Group announced last week that an adapted version of the homepage of its webmail service Mail.ru will be used by default in smart TVs manufactured by LG.
At the revamped Mail.Ru homepage, smart TV users will be able to check the program schedule and their Mail.Ru email accounts, search the web, and learn more about current and upcoming TV shows.
With smart TVs slowly creeping into the Russian market, a number of players have already tapped into this area. In April, the search giant Yandex announced a gesture-based app for this type of device, while the video content site TVzavr.ru and shopping platform ShoppingPlus released their services for LG Smart TVs in late 2012.
