Last week, the Microsoft Russia Seed Fund announced it has disbursed another $160,000 to support Russian startups developing IT projects.
A $60,000 grant went to Appercode from Siberia’s Novosibirsk. The Appercode team pushes a solution that would enable application developers and systems integrators to create .NET/C#-based cross-platform mobile apps. The product is believed to reduce the timeframes and costs of app development by offering “original architecture and completely functional modules.”
Moscow’s xGenCloud walked away with two separate grants from the Fund. In addition to $40,000 in monetary backing, the biomedical startup now enjoys free access to $60,000 worth of Windows Azure-based cloud services as it advances its genetics-focused effort aimed at improving a patient’s quality of life. The IT-enabled system is designed to facilitate early diagnosis of one’s hereditary susceptibility to serious diseases.
Set up in December 2010, the Microsoft Seed Fund has supported more than 30 Russian startups so far and hopes to back another 70 in the next eight years. The Fund focuses on a wide range of areas, from artist promotion and credit platforms for purchasing vehicles to intelligent real estate searches and speech recognition.
