Treolan, a dynamic, Moscow-based distributor of hardware and software products, announced last week the takeover of Safeline, a leading, six-year-old, multivendor distributor of IT security solutions in Russia and the former USSR.
Informzaschita, the seller in the deal and a leader in Russia’s IT security market for over 17 years, confirmed the transaction in its own press release.
The parties have opted not to disclose the deal’s value; but in a comment on the takeover to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Nelli Matveyeva, an analyst at Finam, estimated the deal to be valued around $5.4 million. Treolan hopes to close the deal by the end of June.
Petr Efimov, the president of Informzaschita, underscored that the sale of Safeline is intended to help the company’s shareholders focus on their core business areas, which are data protection solutions and IT security services.
Founded in the early 1990s, Treolan is part of Lanit, a major group of Russian IT companies that has been in business for more than two decades.
