Moscow – Tele2, a European mobile operator, has announced a launch of SMS-dating service. The new service lets Tele2 Russia clients find company and get in touch with new friends by sending short messages (SMS).
In order to subscribe, Tele2 clients will only have to send a message to short code 684. The message has to contain a short text about the sender and a person he is looking for. The system is sorting out applications based on such criteria as age, hobbies, place of residence and even hair color. Following the application, the subscriber will receive most pattern matching applications.
Communications between users may be entirely anonymous until they decide to reveal their real phone numbers.
The cost of messages approximates that of a regular SMS. It is several times cheaper than similar offers on the Russian telecommunications market. Each message sent as part of the service costs only 1 ruble [approximately 3 cents]. At the same time, users may subscribe to SMS-dating by paying 3 rubles per day [10 cents]. In that case all SMS sent will be toll-free.
Roman Volodin, product director at Tele2 Russia: “Traditionally, Tele2 is offering only tested and in-demand services. SMS-dating is incredibly popular in Russia. Tele2 subscribers have sent over 20,000 applications over three days after the service’s launch. SMS-dating is the first stage of the SMS-contacts project. In the future we are planning to launch additional SMS services.”
