Cooliris, a California based publisher of mobile apps for “immersive media experiences,” launched yesterday an international version for Russia. With its photo sharing platform Yandex.Fotki (Yandex Photos), Yandex, the Russian search giant, was chosen as a local photo hosting partner.
This integration enables Yandex.Fotki’s 10 million users to browse, experience and share all of their Yandex.Fotki albums and photos in the Cooliris 3D Wall.
“Yandex.Fotki users can now enjoy their media on mobile platforms (iPhones and iPads) in a unique and engaging way. The Cooliris experience typically delivers an engagement multiplier of 4X and retention of 2X – something that is super hard to achieve especially on mobile devices,” explained Jenny Lum of Cooliris in an exchange with East-West Digital News.
“Yandex users can also use Cooliris as their default photos app for private browsing, coupled with benefits like aggregating content from various sources into one single place and then selectively sharing them with private groups of close friends and family,” Lum added.
“With our localized China launch just one month ago, we saw a 30x increase in downloads in China. We look forward to seeing the same success and engagement in Russia with the launch of Yandex.Fotki integration,” said Soujanya Bhumkar, Cooliris CEO and co-founder, in a press release.
Cooliris is a number one iPad and iPhone app in 75 countries for Lifestyle. Cooliris has already integrated the iPhone and iPad mobile libraries, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Picasa, Twitter, SmugMug, Google Drive, Google Images, and most recently, Renren in China.
The startup claims to have reached 2.5 million installs on iPhone and iPad, over 300 million photos viewed in the app, and over 12 million photo impressions on Facebook in the five months since launch.
