Bashkortostan, a sizable region in the Volga area, is developing its own IT park. “We’re drafting an IT park concept and we already have a business plan,” said Boris Melkoedov, the region’s minister of telecommunications. “The region is also in talks with federal authorities over the inclusion of our project in the Russian techno-park development program.”
The minister added that favorable conditions for IT start-ups should be created, from infrastructure, to well-equipped workplaces, as well as support for economic and legal issues.
The IT park will be an integral part of the future IT cluster that Bashkortostan is also developing.
The telecommunications minister also noted that, according to a UN standardized ranking methodology, Bashkortostan is Russia’s seventh largest regional IT market.
