Sitronics launches new 90nm design rule-based chips

Sitronics Microelectronics, the largest maker and exporter of microelectronics in Russia and the CIS, has announced the first sales of its new microchips applying the 90-nanometer design rule.

The chip is reportedly designed for use in computer system components, with its immediate market seen as Russian companies developing  equipment for aerospace engineering.

The company has longer-term plans to start manufacturing a broad range of 90nm design rule-based products, including microcontrollers, SIM cards with digital e-signature, and telecom chipsets.

The production capacity, a pioneer in Eastern Europe according to Sitronics, was launched in February 2012 by Sitronics and Rusnano, Russia’s largest nanotech company, with the participation of more than 50 companies from 12 countries.
