BT to work with Rostelecom to improve network reach in Russia

BT announced yesterday a new network interconnection agreement with Rostelecom, Russia’s national telecommunications operator.

“The agreement will significantly improve BT’s ability to serve its corporate customers across all regions of Russia with its BT Connect portfolio of intelligent network services,” the British operator stated.

BT Connect underpins mission critical applications in a variety of industry sectors, including financial services, manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceutical and oil & gas industries.

BT already serves around 400 large organizations in Russia, including many local and international financial service providers which rely on BT’s network to connect to the BT Radianz Shared Market Infrastructure, the world’s largest cloud based platform serving the needs of the financial services sector.

“While the global economy is more unbalanced than ever, a growing number of multinational companies are expanding in Russia, including in the financial services sector,” said Luis Alvarez, BT president, Europe, Middle East and Africa and Latin America.
