Russian DTH provider Tricolor last week announced plans to serve 1.2 million HD pack subscribers by the end of 2012 and 7 million by 2015. Industry experts have expressed doubts about these goals, as the company has attracted a mere 25,000 subscribers since its offer launch last April – a figure that includes 20,000 subscribers who migrated from Platforma following its termination of service.
In March 2012, the provider initially announced more modest targets. Experts believe that this recent dramatic revision may be due to pressure from shareholders eager to present more attractive business perspectives to a potential acquirer.
Tricolor is the leading Russian DTH provider, with more than 10 million subscribers.
