The export volume of Russian software reached $4 billion in 2011 and could grow by 25% this year, said Valentin Makarov, the president of the industry association Russoft, at the St. Petersburg International Economic forum last week.
However, the lion’s share of software sales came from major companies, with just a few new players appearing on the market, according to an industry expert cited by Russian business daily Vedomosti.
Among the most internationally active Russian software publishers are Internet security solution providers Kaspersky, Dr. Web, and Group IB, as well as ABBYY, Acronis, Speech Technology Center, Parallels, RNT, and Spirit DSP.
