Skolkovo, the state-supported innovation hub under completion near Moscow, comes to the UK on Feb. 14 and 15. Organized by UK Trade & Investment and the UK Science and Innovation Network, the roadshow will provide “100 UK companies and organisations with an opportunity to discuss Russia’s ambitious future plans and funding opportunities for joint projects with Skolkovo, its senior executives and its highly influential President, Viktor Vekselberg,” the British embassy in Moscow announced.
Vekselberg will be speaking at a Roadshow event on Feb. 15 at the Institute of Directors in London.
The event will involve Skolkovo’s five clusters; space and telecommunications, IT, nuclear, biomedical and energy efficiency.
“Russia’s future is high-value and hi-tech. This event will showcase the unique opportunities in Russia’s ‘Silicon Valley’ for the UK’s hi-tech companies, with all their expertise in innovation and creativity. They are well-placed to build a lasting partnership with Russia, which will be of great mutual benefit,” said Lord Stephen Green, UK Minister for Trade and Investment.
Last year, Lord Green signed an agreement with the Skolkovo Innovation Center on scientific co-operation between the UK and Russia, as part of his visit to Moscow with Prime Minister David Cameron.
The series of Skolkovo roadshows in Western countries started in the fall of last year with visits to Vienna, Munich and the Silicon Valley.
Skolkovo’s IT cluster is preparing a roadshow to France next summer.
