As early as next month, Yandex services for mobile devices will come preinstalled on all Samsung Bada-powered smartphones sold in the CIS countries, the Russian search giant announced on Tuesday.
In addition to the Yandex search engine, the agreement with Samsung will include the preinstallation of Yandex.Maps, Yandex.Mail, Yandex.Metro, Yandex.Market, and a number of other popular Yandex apps.
Yandex began offering its services for Bada soon after the platform appeared on the market, the Russian company says. But, going forward, these services will come preinstalled on Bada smartphones.
Yandex’s home page will also be featured as the default home page in the browser on Samsung smartphones.
“The mobile sector is one of our key priorities, so we have introduced and will continue to develop various mobile applications for all major platforms ” said Tigran Khudaverdyan, Head of Web Portal and Mobile Services at Yandex.
According to Samsung, its Bada-powered smartphones currently account for 40% of the company’s smartphone sales in Russia. In August 2011, the sales of Bada-powered smartphones grew more than 10 fold compared to August 2010.
