A new worldwide games market study released on Tuesday by Amsterdam based research firm Newzoo forecasts that Russian consumer spending on games will grow to $1.5 billion in 2011. The audience for games in Russia is split almost evenly between male and female users. Among other findings presented in Newzoo’s infograph, Russian gamers collectively spend a total of 64 million hours on play every day.

According to Newzoo, the lion’s share (56%) of money is spent by Russians on PC and MMO (massively multiplayer online) games. The $570 million spent on PC games includes $210 million spent on direct downloads and $50 million on second-hand trade in diverse game inventory. MMO games gross $270 million, leading over console games sales standing at $225 million.
