Red Hat opens representation office in Russia

Red Hat opened a representation office in Moscow in early August, reported CNews.ru, a Russian site that covers software and IT issues.

Although Red Hat still relies on its master distributor Vdel to market its products and services, the representation office may play a direct role in certain projects and help develop sales, a Vdel representative told CNews.ru.

Red Hat’s sales volume in Russia has not been disclosed, but experts interviewed by CNews.ru believe Red Hat’s sales are limited because the market for open source support services in Russia is underdeveloped.
