VimpelCom to invest $35 million in technical center in Yaroslavl region

Leading Russian and international telecom group VimpelCom intends to build an innovation technical center in Yaroslavl region’s Novoselki industrial park, Interfax reports.

Investment into the first stage of the project is reportedly to amount to $35 million. Under this first stage, the company is to build a module – a 10,000-square-meter building. Construction is scheduled to start in December 2011, with the first module to be commissioned in January 2013.

Under plans, the company is to locate a data processing center at the module, as well as to move there network monitoring system, training center, client support center.

During the first stage the company is to move from Moscow to Yaroslavl its testing and development sites, as well as non-critical systems with minimal effect on the clients. After 2014 all the company’s main systems are reportedly to be moved from Moscow to Yaroslavl.
