New e-signature law adopted

The Russian Duma has adopted a new law on electronic signatures, which will replace the previous one of January 2002. The new law will come into force after signing by the Russian President and official publication.

Three types of e-signatures are defined: a simple, reinforced and qualified. The law regulates the issue and use of e-signature certificates and the accreditation of issuing centres in the country.
