German and Brazilian companies to help develop GLONASS-based traffic accident alert system

At an international conference dedicated to ERA-GLONASS held in Moscow yesterday, Russian national navigation services provider Navigation Information Systems (NIS) signed agreements with T-Systems, a German operator of ICT systems, Zatix, a Brazilian tracking company, and Upaya, a Brazilian consultancy.

The agreement with T-System will help NIS develop its ERA-GLONASS project, a real time satellite-based system for alert and response to traffic accidents on the Russian territory.

The agreement with Zatix indicates NIS’s intention to push GLONASS-related technologies on Latin-American markets.

The conference was attended by 420 participants from 14 different countries, reports iKS Consulting, a consulting and research company specializing in the telecom market in Russia and CIS.
