Ukrainian fund United Media Holding (UMH), owner of a variety of media companies in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, is in the process of acquiring a controlling stake in Sports.ru, reports RBC Daily, a Russian business daily, from unnamed sources.
UMH already owns sports related periodicals and online media.
The holding, however, declined to comment the issue.
Founded in 1998, Sports.ru is one of the leading Russian-language themed news portals. Traffic estimations of the site vary from 1.75 million to 3 million unique users monthly.
