STC to build $34 million fiber-optic line in the Black Sea

The South Telecommunications Company (STC) has announced plans to build a $34-million fiber-optic communication line along the Black Sea shore in Russia.

Under the project, the company is to lay a 400-kilometer fiber-optic line through the bottom of the Black Sea from Caucasus Port to Adler.

The line is to provide reserve communication infrastructure for Olympics facilities, the firm said.

Timeframes for the project have yet to be disclosed.

STC is a subsidiary of Rostelecom, Russia’s national telecommunications operator.
