DE CIX, Russia’s newest foreign IP connection

TTK, one of the largest principal Internet providers in Russia, announced its connection to traffic exchange point DE-CIX (Deutscher Commercial Internet Exchange) in Frankfurt, Germany.

This is the sixth point of traffic exchange between TTK and international segments of the Internet. TTK’s other points of exchange are in London (LINX, since 2005), Amsterdam (AMS-IX, since 2007), Hong Kong, Stockholm, and Tokyo. These exchange points provide the foreign IP resources of Russian Internet clients.

DE-CIX (Deutscher Commercial Internet Exchange) was established in 1995. It is one of the world’s three largest Internet exchange points, the others being LINX and AMS-IX.

Several major Russian telecom operators other than TTK are connected to the DE-CIX exchange point. These include AKADO Telecom, KOMKOR (connection established October 2008); RTKomm.RU, a subsidiary of Rostelecom (November 2008); Rusk (August 2009); the alternative operator Start Telecom (October 2009); and Sinterra (December 2009).
