In 2010, Russian search engine Yandex remained by far the leading search engine on the Russian-language Internet. According to LiveInternet.ru, a leading website traffic ranking site, Yandex generated 64.1% of all visits to other sites generated by search engines from December 2009 to December 2010, an increase of 5.2 points over the previous year. Google’s share dropped 1.9 points to 21.5% in spite of marketing campaigns aimed at improving its competitive position. Other Russian search engines lagged far behind – Mail.ru stood at 7.6%, loosing 2.4 points and Rambler at 1.8%, dropping 1.6 points.
